Good Times

Well out of pure boredom Andy Vandergriff (who will be referred to as Andy from now on) called me up and invited me to go see Ray the movie about the life and times of Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx must have studied Ray Charles for months if not years in wide shots it actually look like Ray Charles on screen. Immediately after the movie taking a pit stop in the bathroom we encountered 3 black gentlemen who had just seen Ray as well and the elder of the 3 was looking for the soap dispenser on of his compatriots attempted to help him (sarcastically of course) and gentlemen jibbed back with the remark..."I can read Braille man (insert Ray Charles arms crossed rocking back forth movement)." by far the funniest thing I had seen all night.

So after the movie Andy and I sat down to an early breakfast at IHOP (known as Domestic.H.O.P) to a few friends and Derek Webb. We talked over coffee(heavily creamed and sugared can't take restaurant coffee) about many topics and overall getting to know each other better.

I got home around 2:00 A.M. watch the replay on the history channel of part two of Band of Brothers after that is was off to bed the hour is now 3:15

I LOVE TURKEY....

Well here at home for a little R&R and some Thanksgiving turkey....well I was able to turn in my paper that I've been working on and now thats out of the way its I now see the light that once was a just a little speck at the end of this long tunnel known as theological reasearch. Tomorrow is the day that I have to sit down to work on homework...which comprises of translating some hebrew working on an outline for an final essay amongst other things. I think I'm gonna finally start reading The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis. Yeah I get into these kinds of mood every once in awhile where I really want to read something and I've been meaning to read it for awhile.

Hope everyone is thoroughly enjoying their breaks as much as I am.

Wow what night/morning

Well...You know that all that work I mentioned in my previous post well it wasn't really a lot it more like one huge paper, yes an exegesis of 2 Samuel 7 that was coming due that I had yet to start on. Why did I wait? You ask well as my mom simply put: "your male its your nature to put things off thinking [I'll have plenty of time to do that]

Well as soon as the library opened at 3:00 on Sunday I went and got an armful of books on my particular subject and retreated home to K-town more specifically my house where until the almost dawn hour of 4:00 A.M. I worked feverishly on my paper you will all be relieved to know that I got most of it done. I'm now in the process of adding a point here and there as suggested by my resource professor and polishing up and all the grammatical smudges and then it should be ready to turn in.

I would like to express my thanks to everyone who has been lifting me up in prayer recently when I got the majority of my paper done I felt this heavy burden lift. I had been so worked up about completing the assignment in order to pass and graduate; that I had been having trouble falling asleep and sleeping much less doing anything besides just sitting and dwelling on the fear of the unknown. Trust me never get like that its the worst feeling in the world. It even began to put strains on my friendships specifically my friendship with my dear friend Adam. At times I would be short and even to the point of snapping at him. He told me later in our "Come to Jesus" meeting (uh..That's church-talk for a long sit-down talk) that we wanted nothing more to knock me out with one good punch. Well we confessed to each other what the Spirit had convicted of us of and we are better and closer because of it.

well I have to be up tomorrow morning at 5 to be at work at 6 so...thats gonna be about it

thanks for taking the time to read...you all come back now ya hear!!!!

Lots of Work

Welp....Inching closer and closer to the end of my last fall semester here at Good Ole Carson Newman yes yes I know you say aww how sad and I would agree but right now there is so much on my shoulders right now in terms of work and stuff that is due. I do a good job of not making it apparent that I'm worried about graduating in May at this point but step back and realize all I have to do is sit down and get it done I'll pass the class and I'll be able to move on to the ultimate last semester.

So the TBC (Tennessee Baptist Convention) was this week and once again Carson Newman came under fire as it usually does around the 2nd week of November every year. It saddens me to see how much strife and division there is within the body of Christ.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you called to peace and be thankful. Colossians 3:15

I was reading several passages last night and I came across the above-mentioned; I thought God wants us all to be united when we are alienated from one another is breaks His Heart. The Carson Newman issue lies within this one thing as posed by Dr. Garner this morning in my class when people here Carson Newman a "Christian" Liberals Arts College they latch onto the bold word and have the image of a strictly bible/apologetic college. Which is not the case Carson Newman offers the Christian message and teaching it completely. Carson Newman also offers these other ideas; its up to you and your own faith to determine what you believe to be truth. Another thing in dealing with this issue you choose where to attend college and by no means are you bound to that school until you complete your secondary education you are completely free to transfer and attend other schools of learning. When it all boils down its a element of fear, and a lack of faith.

Sick as a Dog

Here lately to use the cliche term I've been sick as a dog. I have to ask cause I hope this will generate comments on my comment board. How sick is to be classified sick as dog. I submit for healthy discussion.

Well on the up and up of things I've been taking each day in stride as it comes drinking lots of vitamin C and eating lots of soup things which commonly used in fighting colds. The past two days have felt like a weekend cause I was too sick to attend classes on Monday and I had no classes today because of the TBC (Tennessee Baptist Convention) which is meeting here locally at Seiverville Baptist Church. I hope to get back to the usual swing tomorrow and go to class as usual. That's gonna be about it from me. (Big Gulps..Huh....Alright.....Whelp see ya later) name the movie that is from

Whew!!! That Was Close

Now that all this election hubub is over I can say with conviction that I'm glad that President Bush was re-elected to a second term. I prayed all day tuesday for the election and at first felt guilty for doing cause I know that God is neither republican nor democrat he is above all that and furthermore he's in control of everything. Adam Whipple one of my best friends had a great word for me Monday when I was talking to him about this he said that yes, God is in control but he also understands that while we are here on this earth we will elect leaders that will govern us; so its not selfish to pray for the election. So my prayer was that this country would elect the candadite that had integrity and is man of God both publicly and privately. Yes another Adam moment when he was explaining to me that reason behind his vote he said that he vote for Bush because he would rather have a non-eloquent who appears real and genuine rather than a smart over educated man that would lie to his face.

I voted for Bush which according surveys is a gross minority amongst 18-30 years olds who are supposed skue Kerry/Edwards. I voted for Bush because he is a man of God and it is evident that he is such. I believe that he will seek God's will for how to proceed in Iraq and Afaghanistan and the whole war on terror; and not a politcal will.

Those are my thoughts on Election and Decision 20o4 which I'm glad to say is over.
