I left friday afternoon wondering whether I would be able to make it back to campus...because of the threat of the winter storm that was heading our way...unfortunately the cold air got here before the moisture and by the time the moisture got here it was well above freezing so all we got was messy rain. Adam along with Andy left to go open for Hands of Thomas @ New City Cafe. Rick left around the same time I did. I got back to the apartment around 7 last night to an empty apartment. Its always eerie sitting in an empty apartment with no one around. If you all who are reading this post are wondering what the title of the post has to do with body of message. I picked up a new CD through working with the Student Ministry @ Mo'Town its a relatively new artist to the Christian Music scene named LeCrae the genre of his music is put no other way is *Rap*. The Mo'town kids have been bringing music that they shouldn't be listening to and smashing the CD's. One of the tracks on Lecrae's cd is titled Represent.
I would ask that everyone that reads this blog with some frequency to be praying for me come Feburary 17th and 18th I'm heading to a conference @ Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. A good friend of mine Matt Sexton is setting up a meeting with the Dean of Theology up at the seminary it is at that point I hope to finally nail down where I'm going to go to seminary upon Graduation.
This Blog will be my personal monologue of my thoughts feelings and experiences whenever the inspiration strikes feel free to join in on the conversation. Little bit about me, my name is Jared Lucas and I'm a 29 year old graduate of Carson-Newman College. I currently reside in West Columbia, SC with my wife Katie. I am in my last year of my MDIV in Christian Ministry at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

This Just In...
We here at Carson Newman have been experiencing the annual Ashe-Henderson Lectures or in other words a way to get 1/2 of your chapels taken care of in a single week. I've manage to get three out of the whole thing because I was involved with them through men's chorus and band. other than that its been a rather not eventful couple of days not much going on besides going to class Rick mentioned to me that Did you know that we are over a 1/5 of the way through the semester? I was like don't tell me that cause I will start slacking and not do well. We have been getting to into interesting debates in my small group in Baptist History this morning was no exception we dwelled on idea of being an christian and the consumption of alcohol by such a person. Personally I don't have any qualms with having a "cold one" (as strongbad says) everyonce in awhile I do believe that when it becomes a vice that effects your walk with Christ that's when its a problem that needs addressing.

Its so surreal
Tomorrow I start my last semester of my college career. It feels so strange its gone by so fast but alas my dad says I've been there long enough its time to get out. College is a hefty bill to fit so in sense I do agree with him.
I'm so pumped about this one class that I'm taking its History of Scotland I mean what more could a Scotsman ask for? This semester is sure to be one for the books I'm gonna enjoy it while it lasts.

What else is there do besides blog
well today I got out of the house and played a soggy but complete round of frisbee golf with my best buddy Josh...we then adjourned ourselves back to his house to watch a movie...the movie of choice was I, Robot which was good I wasn't expecting it to as good as it was...I found it interesting that the voice of sonny the robot sounded similar to HAL on 2001, a Space Odyssey.
If you haven't already discovered this little nook of the internet I suggest you go here and hang out for a few hours if you've got them you will garner everything about a movie that you did and didn't want to know about...Internet Movie Database

Quite Boring
Well...Christmas and New Years is over and with that my brother has returned to school. Leaving me here with a anti-social cat and a dog whom I love very much but is starting to take a turn for senility. The next few days are going to be trying having to keep myself occupied during the day until everyone gets home.

Winter Retreat Report
The FBC Mo'town retreat was awesome! The first night we had atleast 2 people that I remember get saved it was awesome to see. Ronnie Hill was are speaker let me just say that Ronnie is like a billy club to the head spiritually speaking he is not to afraid to address any issue and I know that time he made me feel uncomfortable at times...(in a good way). The band was Ninth Hour and they too were awesome another perk of being an intern is you get to hang out with these guys both Ninth Hour and Ronnie.
Aside from that back to the report the last session before we left was by far one of the best John posed a question similar to the one that I heard when I know for sure I got saved when I was 17 he asked do you know for sure that you would go to heaven if you were to die tonight. With that several students headed for the back of the room.
I got a blessing out of being there I sure I could have experienced more but the responsibilities of being a leader and making sure everything ran smoothly hampered that a bit but nevertheless I was encouraged by Ronnie's message on Faith and it showed me several areas on my life in which my faith was lacking.
I hope that everyone is enjoying the last week of there break this applies to CN Folk, and I also hope that the new year is going well for everyone a well.
